If it reaches you, please vote NO on SB 1288. I am a mom to teens, a teen troop leader, and a longtime dependency attorney and I’m writing to ask you to vote NO on SB 1288 if it comes to you. I want, and they need, accurate health care information, including sexual health care information, for my children and all the children I work with. Accurate health care information does not encourage children to become sexually active, on the contrary it teaches them the risks and responsibilities related to being sexually active, while protecting them from those risks. I will never forget my high school coach gleefully describing the symptoms of syphilis back in 1991. While I don’t think that was necessarily the best way to go about educating us, we were significantly less interested in engaging in risky behavior afterwards.
