Support HR 1637, the Protect Veteran Jobs Act

To: Rep. Allen

From: A verified voter in Augusta, GA

March 11

Already 2,400 employees have been fired from the VA. Internal memos from the VA indicate another 70,000-80,000 are scheduled to be fired by August. This returns our VA employees to pre-PACT Act levels. There are a few problems with this plan. The first one is that the more than 740,000 Veterans who have signed up for benefits via the Pact Act still need care- we aren't going anywhere. The second is that the VA is already short-staffed across many fields at present levels of employment. Cutting this many positions greatly puts delivery of the benefits our veterans have earned at risk- as well as their health and mental health. The third problem is the questionable leaglity of this method of job cuts, coming as a public recommendation from OPM, but ostensibly from DOGE and Musk. The latter two have no legal framework to order these layoffs. Please stand with Rep. Tran and the 70+ cosponsors to vote in support of this bill. Please reach out to your peers and ask them to do the same. We need your support. Our health and our lives are on the line.
