Hello. I am writing today because I have heard about the drastic cuts being made to the Health and Human Services department. As a disabled person this affects me very much. I am against these cuts and against the reorganization under the new Administration for a Healthy America.
These changes will hurt disabled people like me and our ability to access services we need to live. Also, we as a country need a functional CDC and FDA. People do not want to have to worry about dying from the flu. We don't want to worry about a rampant pandemic with no guidance from our government. I don't know anyone who thinks less regulation and inspection of our food would be healthy or good for the public.
Another thing that will be cut by these moves is community health services and community mental health. For some of us lower income people, these things are our only access to certain types of healthcare. Without it we cannot afford it at all, or don't even have someone who will accept us as patients.
I don't know what congress can do to stop this or help protect these agencies and services, but anything that can be done must be done.
