The recent deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a prison in El Salvador is a grave miscarriage of justice and a direct violation of due process. As a law-abiding member of our community with a family here in the United States, he was entitled to fair legal proceedings before any action was taken against him. Instead, he was unlawfully removed and sent to face detention in a country where his safety is at risk.
This case is not an isolated incident but part of a broader failure to uphold the legal protections that all individuals are guaranteed under our Constitution and international human rights standards. Deporting individuals without due process is an affront to our nation’s values and erodes trust in our justice system.
I urge you to take immediate action to secure Garcia’s return to his family and to advocate for all those who have been unjustly deported. This cannot be allowed to stand. Until Garcia and others in his position receive the justice they are owed, I implore you to use every available tool to rectify this wrongdoing. Our country must uphold its commitment to fairness, due process, and human dignity—without exception.
