Uphold Presidential Term Limits and Constitutional Democracy

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Self, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Princeton, TX

March 31

The Constitution is the bedrock of American democracy and its principles must be upheld without exception. The 22nd Amendment clearly stipulates that no person shall be elected president more than twice, establishing a firm two-term limit. Any attempt to circumvent this restriction, whether through legal loopholes or extralegal maneuvers, would represent an egregious violation of the rule of law and a direct assault on the foundations of our system of government. We cannot allow such a precedent to be set, as it would open the door to further consolidation of power and the erosion of democratic checks and balances. The president's musings about serving a third term are cause for grave concern, and I urge you to take a strong public stand in defense of our Constitution and its term limits for the presidency. The peaceful transfer of power is a hallmark of American democracy, and we must not waver in our commitment to this essential principle.
