Today NASA is closing their Office of the Chief Scientist and Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy. And of course, their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility branch. These layoffs are under the Executive Order for DOGE's Workforce Optimization Initiative. All associated staff are laid off under a phased Reduction in Force. If you have ever once oohed and aahed at the beautiful images from James Webb or the Mars Rovers or Pluto's heart, or appreciated the work NASA does to track and understand climate, or even just dressed your kid in an astronaut costume, please take action to demand an end to these shortsighted cuts.
