As each day passes the current federal administration finds new ways to erode the rights of those within our borders. The recent arrest of a student by ICE officials IN PLAIN CLOTHES simply for being involved in a protest against the slaughter of civilians is reprehensible! If it can be done to a green card holder or a student on a visa, it can be done to ANYONE! This gross misuse of power must be stopped at once. Perhaps more chilling is the implication that speech which the administration does not agree with can be categorized as 'terrorism' on a whim, or that anyone in a hoodie can claim to be ICE. These tactics are those of a fascist secret police. Not only do these actions infringe upon our civil rights, they are blemish upon our image on the world stage. Already we see the impact across the globe, with many weary of travelling to the U.S. for fear of being detained. College professors specializing in authoritarian regimes are fleeing for fear of the growing political tension. Things seem set to only get worse long before they get better.
