OPPOSE AM545 to LB415!

To: Rep. Bacon, Sen. Ricketts, Sen. Fischer

From: A constituent in Omaha, NE

March 25

I’m writing as your constituent to urge you to oppose AM545 to LB415, which would weaken the voter-approved paid sick leave law (Initiative 436). In November, nearly 75% of Nebraskans voted in favor of this initiative, including voters in 89 of 93 counties and a majority in every single legislative district. That is a clear and resounding mandate: Nebraskans believe all workers should have the right to earn and use paid sick leave without fear of retaliation. But AM545 seeks to undermine that vote by carving out broad exemptions—for young workers, seasonal and temporary agricultural workers, and employees at small businesses—and by removing critical protections against employer retaliation. Working families are the backbone of our state. Paid sick leave lets people care for sick children, aging parents, and themselves without risking their financial stability. This is not just good policy—it’s a matter of respecting family values and democratic principles. Please stand with the people of Nebraska and reject any attempt to weaken Initiative 436. Oppose AM545 to LB415. Thank you for your time and service.
