WILL YOU BE A PART OF TEARING DOWN THE JUDICIARY?

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Pfluger

From: A verified voter in Mason, TX

March 18

Will my elected officials support the defiance bordering on lawlessness currently being displayed because of a poorly-received decision by a federal judge relating to deportation actions over the weekend by the Trump administration? Defying a court order is not generally celebrated, right? At least that’s always been the given, given our system of laws and all that stuff. But now we have a new norm… “We’re not stopping,” Trump’s border czar Tom Homan told Fox News. “I don’t care what the judges think.” Fox News also pitched in on the effort to condemn the judge, broadcasting a photo of James Boasberg, the chief judge of the Washington, D.C., District Court, to its millions of viewers. A certain Senator also wasted no time jumping into the fire… “These far-left Resistance™ district court judges are under the impression they were elected president,” Senator Tom Cotton posted on X Monday. No, Senator Cotton. The U.S. Constitution established the judiciary as a co-equal and independent branch of government. You might want to jot that down. Just because Congress has abdicated on their own co-equal standing in favor of lockstep to the administration doesn’t mean everyone has made that choice. Now we read that the DOJ has a court filing seeking the removal of Judge Boasberg from presiding over the case on the Trump deportation of Venezuelans. It seems an obvious solution to a disagreement over particular laws might be for lawmakers to change them, or maybe make new ones. Do y’all still do that? Aren’t you the party in power? Why is it so hard to abide by laws that Congress itself passed? Why do we have to have such power struggles resulting in yet more chaos? Why can’t the Trump administration just work within the system we have? Isn’t part of the job to implement the laws as written? Is governing by lawsuit and threats to personal safety the new American way to govern? This is dangerous territory that I just can’t believe you agree with.
