Thank you for drawing attention to the concerning rise of antisemitism impacting Jewish students across educational institutions. Enforcing protections against discrimination is critical, and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism serves as an invaluable tool to identify and understand this pernicious form of hatred. I urge the swift passage of the Antisemitism Awareness Act to codify the use of the IHRA definition when investigating violations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Consistent application of this definition will strengthen enforcement efforts and ensure modern manifestations of antisemitism do not go unaddressed. Combating antisemitism through a whole-of-society approach, as outlined in the recent U.S. National Strategy, must be a top priority to safeguard Jewish communities and uphold American values of tolerance and pluralism.
