As a US Navy veteran, the Trump administration's plan to eliminate over 80,000 positions at the Department of Veterans Affairs is deeply concerning and will severely undermine the ability to provide quality care and services to our nation's veterans. Slashing over 40% of the noncritical workforce risks disrupting vital operations that support healthcare delivery, benefits processing, and other essential functions. We must prioritize strengthening the VA, not dismantling it through draconian cuts. Our veterans sacrificed for this country and deserve a fully staffed and funded VA system that can meet their needs. I urge you to reject this misguided downsizing effort and instead work to improve and expand resources for the VA to properly serve those who served. Supporting our veterans should be a non-partisan issue of utmost importance.
