[Subject: Upholding Judicial Authority and the Separation of Powers]
I am deeply concerned about any attempt by the executive branch to undermine the legitimacy of the judiciary, particularly when questioning the validity of a judge’s verbal ruling. The judicial branch is a coequal part of our government, as established by the Constitution, and its authority must be respected to maintain the balance of power that protects our democracy.
The courts serve as a crucial check on executive and legislative actions, ensuring that government operates within constitutional limits. When an administration challenges a judge’s ruling not on legal grounds but by questioning the very legitimacy of verbal decisions, it sets a dangerous precedent that weakens public trust in our institutions.
Respect for the rule of law requires all branches of government to acknowledge and abide by judicial decisions, whether they agree with them or not. I urge you to take a firm stand in defense of judicial authority and speak out against any efforts to diminish its role. Congress must remain vigilant in preserving the separation of powers to prevent any branch from overstepping its bounds.
Thank you for your time and for your commitment to upholding the Constitution.
