Reject order censoring history, preserve educational freedom and progress.

To: Sen. Murphy, Rep. DeLauro, Sen. Blumenthal

From: A constituent in New Haven, CT

April 1

The executive order from the president aims to censor truthful accounts of American history, especially regarding marginalized communities like Black, Indigenous, and LGBTQ people. Removing or sanitizing these narratives from museums and public sites undermines our understanding of the nation's complex past. We must preserve the ability to learn from complete historical records in order to build a more just society. I urge you to reject this misguided order that obstructs educational institutions from presenting accurate perspectives on America's multifaceted story. Promoting an honest reckoning with our history is crucial for progress.
