I am asking you to speak out to defend our democracy, defend the rule of law, condemn threats against judges; then start impeachment (in the house) and vote to impeach Trump and Vance (in the senate).  On Saturday Trump defied a judge's order not to deport a plane load of Venezuelans using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. Rubio gloated about the defiance on social media. Lawyers for the government gave false statements in court, making ludicrous claims about presidential authority that reeked of contempt for the court, the constitution and the rule of law. Is the president now above the law? I am shocked by this contempt for rule of law. I hope you are too. We know all too well how democracies turn into dictatorships: a ruler usurps power from the legislature, contrives to secure personal loyalty from military or militias, twists the judiciary to his will. Congress has been supine: you have allowed Trump to usurp your power of appropriation and allowed federal agencies created by Congress to be dismantled by Musk. Do you plan to enable the collapse of American democracy? Please:  Speak out against Trump's desecration of the Constitution and subversion of the rule of law. Call these crimes what they are: high crimes and misdemeanours worthy of impeachment, treason, even, according to some definitions. Please reply in writing to tell me whether the law applies to all citizens or whether you will allow Trump to become a king.
