Keep Nebraska’s Electoral College rules as they are. Right now we have the strongest state because we have the system we do. LB 3 would weaken our voice on the national stage. Our current system of having our electoral vote able to split ensures that all voices of Nebraska voters are heard. LB 13 weakens our political voice by silencing voters. Our current system allows for both rural and urban voices to be heard. We are a state with two strong types of communities. Hearing ALL of those voices is important to a strong democracy. Knowing what both communities want keeps voters engaged actively in their elections. Trying to silence one group or the other with a “winner take all” makes us look weak and fearful. You don’t have to silence someone unless you are afraid of them. You don’t have to use brute force unless you are weak. Bowing to pressure from the current president makes our leadership weaker because you give up our state’s power. I encourage you to speak out against and vote against LB 13. Keep the integrity of our electoral system. As a constituent, I appreciate the time you took to read this and I appreciate your efforts to keep our state strong.
