Peaceful protest is a constitutionally protected right in the USA.

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Blackburn, Rep. Ogles, Sen. Hagerty

From: A constituent in Nashville, TN

March 11

Protest is not illegal in the United States of America. Peaceful protest is not illegal in the United States of America. Free speech is a constitutionally protected right in the United States of America. Free speech AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT is a constitutionally protected right in the United states of America. Are you really going to stand for protestors being disappeared? (Mahmoud Khalil) Are you really going to arrest people for protesting? (See DOJ letters to those who speak out against Musk.) Are you really going to illegally pull funding from universities that allow legal protests? I thought the GOP was the party of free speech? What happened? Only if you like the speech? Only if it’s against your political enemies? What are your rules here? Because it’s not the constitution of the United States of America. What a disgrace. Do better. We are on the Human Rights watch list. How embarrassing. The US used to be the leaders of the free world and now we can’t even speak freely?! It’s the FIRST AMENDMENT. What are you going to do to save our democracy?
