Democratic leaders must take a firm stand against Republicans attempting to undermine our democratic institutions. They should vote against the continuing budget resolution, which enables further erosion of democratic norms and principles. It is imperative that they refuse to collaborate with those actively working to dismantle fundamental tenets of our political system for partisan gain. Upholding the integrity of free and fair elections, safeguarding civil liberties, and defending the rule of law should be non-negotiable priorities. Appeasing anti-democratic forces with misguided compromises will only embolden those seeking to consolidate authoritarian control. Democrats have a responsibility to unequivocally reject any measures that abet the dismantling of constitutional checks and balances or disenfranchise segments of the electorate. They must be unwavering in their commitment to preserving democratic governance and the democratic process itself. The stability and credibility of American democracy hangs in the balance.
