The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) plays a crucial role in safeguarding consumers from predatory and deceptive practices by financial institutions. Since its inception, the CFPB has recovered over $21 billion for 205 million individuals harmed by unlawful corporate actions and has handled over 10 million consumer complaints. Its work has broad bipartisan support from the public. Recent attempts by the Trump administration to undermine the Bureau's funding and operations are not only unlawful but also jeopardize the financial well-being of millions of Americans. As your constituent, I urge you to forcefully defend the CFPB and its vital consumer protection mission. Any disruption to its operations or access to sensitive consumer data by outside parties would put individuals at heightened risk of financial exploitation. The CFPB must be allowed to continue its essential work unimpeded.
