I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recent comments made by Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, about Social Security and the American people. In a public statement, Lutnick referred to individuals who rely on Social Security as "fraudsters," dismissing their need for the program and suggesting that it is somehow a form of dishonesty. I find these remarks not only offensive but also dangerously misguided. Social Security is one of the most critical programs for millions of Americans, particularly seniors, disabled individuals, and low-income families who have paid into the system throughout their lives. For many, it is the primary source of income during retirement. To label these individuals as "fraudsters" is an insult to their contributions and their dignity, as well as an attack on a program that has provided essential financial stability for generations. Such rhetoric harms the very fabric of our society, fostering division and disrespect for people. People contributed to the system that Lutnick so recklessly disparaged. Rather than entertaining misguided calls to undermine Social Security, I urge you and your colleagues to protect and strengthen the program. Any attempt to cut or privatize Social Security would only deepen the financial struggles of millions of Americans who depend on it. I respectfully ask you to take a strong stand against comments like those made by Lutnick and to continue supporting policies that safeguard Social Security for future generations. As a representative of the people, I hope you will advocate for fairness, respect, and the preservation of this vital safety net.
