I am a transgender, transfeminine constituent from Ohio, and I ask of you to oppose the proposed HHS rule changes that will drop requirements for insurance providers to cover gender affirming care.
Gender affirming care has saved my humanity, and allowed me to live authentically as who I am rather than be locked in a male body and male identity. It has allowed me to breathe easier. I've struggled with gender dysphoria, and I knew for the longest time I never wanted to live life as a man.
Donald Trump and the Republican Party is enacting a crusade against transgender people, especially targeting the healthcare of youth, and attempting to barrier access for adults. Some extremist politicians in Texas want to outright ban it and make it "fraud" (though it will not likely pass, it is still frightening).
These proposed changes are a slap in the face to millions of Americans who will face high prices for perscriptions that help us breathe easily, be ourselves, and can't be fulfilled mentally or physically without. These changes serve no justifiable purpose, they help nobody, they don't help working class people. Instead, it only creates unecessary challenges for people the President has contempt for, and who barely have a voice to speak. Please oppose these HHS rule changes, and stand with the transgender community and the deeply American concept of bodily autonomy.
