Urgent action needed to fix Social Security crisis

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Gooden

From: A verified voter in Garland, TX

March 25

The ongoing crisis at the Social Security Administration is deeply concerning, as it undermines the agency's ability to provide reliable and timely services to millions of vulnerable Americans who rely on these earned benefits. The reported staff cuts, office closures, crashed websites, and excessively long wait times on phone lines are creating unacceptable barriers for retirees, disabled individuals, and others trying to access their hard-earned Social Security benefits. This money belongs to the American people as part of the social contract they have upheld through a lifetime of work and contributions. The agency's mismanagement and lack of funding are now putting that sacred agreement at risk. Urgent action is needed to address this breakdown and ensure the Social Security Administration has the resources and leadership required to fulfill its vital mission of delivering benefits promptly and efficiently to those who have earned them. The American people deserve better from this critical government service.
