Reject fabricated claims, strengthen public education for all

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Gov. Abbott, Rep. Simmons, Sen. Cook

From: A constituent in Houston, TX

March 15

The claims used by Gov. Greg Abbott and Rep. Stan Gerdes to justify the proposed "F.U.R.R.I.E.S. Act" and push for school voucher programs have been debunked. There is no credible evidence of students engaging in so-called "furry" behavior in public schools. This appears to be a disingenuous attempt to funnel taxpayer funds away from public education and into private schools under the guise of addressing a fabricated issue. Objective data and evidence should guide education policy decisions, not unfounded claims or ideological agendas. The state's resources would be better directed towards improving and strengthening public schools for all students rather than promoting privatization schemes that lack a valid educational justification.
