Action must be taken to remind Donald Trump and his enablers that he is not a king. Every day now, it seems that there is another story about an immigrant - often one with permanent legal residency - being taken by ICE and dragged off to a detention center with no legitimate reason given. Some have been on their way to a hearing. Some were simply returning home. Most have not been charged with a crime or told why their residency is suddenly in question. Over two hundred of them have sent to a prison in El Salvador with no due process. At least one other was deported to Lebanon, again with no due process. All of those were sent AFTER a court ordered them to not be sent out of the country. While that has been happening, Elon Musk and DOGE - which he may or may not lead depending on which legal document or interview we are expected to believe - have illegally frozen funds, illegally fired federal employees, and in at least one case have stolen Social Security benefits from a retiree because their misunderstanding of the systems they are meddling in led them to believe he is dead when he is very much alive. Remind these people that they are not above the law. The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has mocked a court order as it has been defied. He should be impeached. The border czar, Tom Homan, has openly said that he does not care about judges' orders. He should be held in contempt. ICE agents have taken people without clearly identifying themselves or presenting anything resembling a warrant. They should be arrested for kidnapping, among other charges. Elon Musk has taken data and directed destruction of documents despite federal laws requiring they be retained. He also broke immigration laws when he was here with a student visa. He should be investigated and recommended for deportation. Donald Trump has encouraged all of this and more. He should be impeached and removed from office. I know that you do not have the ability to do much of this. I am asking you to do what you can and to encourage the others. I know that many Republican members of Congress are scared of what will happen to them should they defy the President. I am asking you to be brave and to remind those who are not both that their fear should serve as indication that what is happening is wrong and that if they act to stop this they will have nothing to fear. I know also that many feel there is no chance of impeaching and removing Donald Trump. Start with Marco Rubio. Remind someone involved in these horrible actions that consequences still exist. When this regime collapses - and it will, whether a month from now or a decade from now - you will want to have been on the side that fought it.
