PETITION TO PROTECT RURAL NEW YORK FROM INDUSTRIAL EXPLOITATION NO to Industrial Solar Land Grabs, STAMP Sprawl, and Wastewater Dumping We, the undersigned residents and allies of rural New York, stand united against the increasing exploitation of our land, water, and communities under the guise of economic development and green energy. Our rural towns are being targeted by overlapping threats: Massive industrial solar farms taking over prime farmland, forestland, and lands adjacent to protected areas like the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge—and in some cases, infringing on or near Indigenous territories. The STAMP (Science and Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park) Project, which seeks to build large-scale data centers and factories in rural areas—putting intense pressure on our energy grid and consuming vast amounts of clean water. Corporate proposals to dump industrial wastewater into our local creeks and streams, endangering our health, ecosystems, and water security. These projects are being pushed through with minimal public input, limited transparency, and a clear disregard for the environmental, agricultural, and cultural value of the land and people they impact. We demand: 1. An immediate halt to large-scale industrial solar development on agricultural land, near wildlife refuges, or within proximity to Native territories. 2. Full environmental review and public transparency on all STAMP-related developments, with local decision-making power—not just top-down state mandates. 3. A complete ban on industrial wastewater discharge into local waterways without independent testing, public disclosure, and long-term ecological impact analysis. 4. Respectful and legally binding consultation with Indigenous communities before any development near Native land or historically significant sites. 5. A commitment to community-scale renewable energy and brownfield redevelopment, not corporate land seizures disguised as green progress. Rural New York is not a dumping ground. We are not a sacrifice zone for urban profit or political convenience. We are stewards of land, water, heritage, and food security—and we will defend them. Add your voice. Sign to protect our land, our water, and our future.
