<message> Requiring certain identification documents to vote in federal elections could make it harder for members of the military, older individuals, people with low income, and people living in rural areas like on the Eastern Shore to participate in the democratic process. Many in these groups may face challenges readily obtaining the necessary documents, potentially disenfranchising eligible voters through no fault of their own. The order's aim to condition federal funding on states following restrictive policies like not accepting ballots received after Election Day could suppress voter participation. Moreover, the plan to compel states to share voter data with federal agencies risks compromising voter privacy and security. Rather than erecting additional barriers, efforts should be made to safeguard and expand voter access through policies proven to bolster electoral integrity without disenfranchisement. Protecting the fundamental right to vote and ensuring all eligible citizens can freely participate are paramount for a healthy democracy. I urge measures to fight against the EO erecting barriers for voters and the SAVE Act. </message>
