The United States has an obligation to defend Ukraine! It's heartbreaking to see fellow Americans and particularly those in office cheering about Trump's treatment of President Zelensky. The Cold War never ended for that ex-KGB agent Putin. The USSR has fallen, but the same rotten leadership stands. The Atlantic Ocean isn't a wall that will shield us if Putin continues to threaten the West. What we invest in Ukraine defense and NATO is a pittance for what we get in return as far as national security. Withdrawing from our role will be costly. We forfeit soft power and the door is opened to China and other rogue nations to step in. It's greatly disappointing that the party of Reagan is comfortable with true patriotism being replaced by false bravado and hollow nationalism. Senator Graham, you especially played a role on the global stage along with John McCain. Something has gone terribly wrong, but I still believe that there are Republicans who remember that "shining city upon a hill. " Appeasing dictators has never worked and those who tried have either been forgotten or remembered as cowards. You have to believe that none of this is morally sound, yet the silence is deafening.
