Respect due process for international students

To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Davidson, Sen. Husted

From: A verified voter in Cincinnati, OH

March 30

It is deeply concerning to learn that ICE is unilaterally revoking the immigration statuses of students, often without notifying the individuals or universities involved. This opaque and unaccountable process undermines due process and the principles of transparency upon which our nation was founded. Students should not have to live in fear of being arbitrarily stripped of their legal status and face potential detention or deportation. Many of these students have come to the United States to pursue higher education and contribute to advancing knowledge - revoking their status jeopardizes not only their futures but America's ability to attract top global talent. I urge you to direct ICE to immediately cease these unannounced revocations and instead establish a clear, lawful process that provides proper notification and an opportunity for students to respond before any change in status occurs. Preserving the rule of law and the rights of these students should be of paramount importance. Swift action is needed to correct this disturbing violation of students' rights and regain global confidence in the U.S. as a welcoming place for international scholars.
