An Open Letter

To: Sen. Smith, Rep. Finstad, Sen. Klobuchar

From: A constituent in Madison Lake, MN

March 9

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk is attempting unprecedented cuts to the federal workforce and government programs with little oversight or input from elected representatives. While reducing wasteful spending is a reasonable goal, the current approach circumvents the system of checks and balances designed to ensure the will of the people is reflected in such major decisions. I urge you to rein in DOGE's unilateral actions and insist that any proposed cuts go through the proper Congressional process of review and approval. Cutting vital services that citizens rely on should not be done hastily or without full transparency and accountability to the voters. The American people deserve to have a voice through their elected officials when it comes to the size and scope of their government. Please defend Congress' constitutional authority over federal spending and program oversight.
