This administration has crossed a dangerous line by using threats and retaliatory actions to intimidate critics, undermining the American people’s fundamental right to free speech. Reports indicate that government agencies have been weaponized against political opponents, journalists, and dissenters, echoing authoritarian tactics rather than democratic principles (The Atlantic, 2025). Rather than fostering open debate, these actions instill fear and suppress discourse, eroding the foundation of a free society. A healthy democracy thrives on diverse viewpoints, not enforced silence. I urge Congress to fulfill its constitutional duty as a coequal branch of government by investigating and holding the president accountable for any abuses of power. If left unchecked, this pattern of intimidation threatens the very freedoms that define our nation.
