Demand accountability for national security breach involving unsecured communications.

To: Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego, Rep. Hamadeh

From: A constituent in Peoria, AZ

March 25

Conducting sensitive national security discussions over unsecured commercial messaging applications represents a flagrant violation of operational security protocols and a potential compromise of classified information. This incident has jeopardized the safety of U.S. personnel and operations. It demonstrates an alarming lack of judgment and disregard for established procedures designed to protect national interests. Swift accountability and remedial measures are imperative to uphold the integrity of our national security apparatus and restore public trust. An independent investigation should review the circumstances surrounding this breach and identify any systemic vulnerabilities to be addressed. Those found culpable of negligence must face appropriate disciplinary consequences commensurate with the gravity of their actions, up to and including termination of their positions. Guaranteeing the secure handling of sensitive data is paramount to safeguarding U.S. capabilities and the lives of those who defend our nation. Firm leadership is required to ensure such an egregious dereliction of duty does not reoccur.
