NO to senate bill 50. I am appalled at the fact that this bill would allow anyone to carry a gun without a permit. My question to you is why would you want anyone to carry a gun in public , without a permit? To say a permit is unconstitutional is a joke, especially when the president you love so much is literally ignoring the constitution on so many levels and yet you do nothing about it. When are we going to wake up and realize that we need common sense gun laws? The process of obtaining a permit takes too long and puts burdens on gun owners?? Who cares? What about the victims of gun violence? What about their burdens? What about the burdens this would put on our police officers? On our hospitals? How will loosening gun laws stop gun violence? Is it not fact that states with higher rates of gun ownership have higher rates of gun deaths? Is it not true that firearms escalate domestic violence situations? I am concerned about the uptick in road rage shootings here in Wake county, on roads that my family travels on every day. How will a law like this help this situation? Is it not true that shootings by “bad guys” are stopped more often by unarmed citizens? We all should know what will lead to less gun violence , and that is proven gun safety laws and programs, NOT more guns in untrained hands. Winning gun fights btwn so called “good guys and bad guys” is not a sensible national public safety strategy. From wral this morning.. “Britt added that North Carolina already allows 18-year-olds to openly carry firearms with no training or background checks. He said it just makes sense to treat concealed carry the same.” It would actually make sense to NOT allow 18 year olds to openly carry firearms with no training or background checks, would it not? Why is it that republicans only seem to care about the 2nd amendment? What about the rest of the constitution that our very own president is erasing right now??
