It's important that you oppose SB2, which goes to ways and means committee tomorrow. SB2 will drastically cut the Healthy Indiana Plan insurance. I recently had a baby, and took off 6 months for maternity leave, healthy Indiana plan covered my family while I wasn't working. It made it possible for my husband, son, and I to access routine care without spending our entire budget on COBRA insurance. And now, I'm back teaching at an Indiana school. Countless Hoosiers just like me depend on HIP to cover those gaps between better jobs. HIP gives people the ability to take jobs at small businesses that don't offer insurance, it means that people who already are struggling don't have to go into debt to get the care they need. And a majority of the HIP recipients are children, who can only access insurance through their parents. Please support Hoosiers, and keep HIP available To people who will benefit most.
Side note: for every dollar we saved in insurance and health costs, that was a dollar we were able to save for the future, or use participating in the local economy. I imagine many others are the same, if healthcare becomes less accessible, they will cut out even more expenses to survive
