I oppose the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act (H.R. 32) as it unfairly punishes localities that have chosen not to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. Denying critical funds intended to provide basic services to undocumented immigrants, many of whom are long-term residents and valued community members, is an unjust and counterproductive policy. Rather than increasing deportations, this bill would cut off access to food, shelter, healthcare and legal assistance for vulnerable populations. It attacks localities' right to set their own policies on sensitive issues and exacerbates fear in immigrant communities. There are more humane and effective ways to address immigration that don't involve withholding funds and services. I urge you to vote against this harmful legislation.
