Prohibiting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives would disproportionately harm women's career prospects and economic security across state agencies, as the largest underrepresented group. An erosion of DEI threatens to perpetuate systemic barriers and workplace discrimination that have historically impeded the full participation of women and other minorities in the workforce. We cannot afford to undercut the hard-won progress toward greater equality and economic empowerment. Protecting DEI is crucial to upholding equal opportunity for all and ensuring state agencies reflect the diversity of our great state. I urge you to take action and support policies that safeguard DEI initiatives, securing fair employment opportunities and advancement for women, minorities, and all North Carolinians in government.
