Investigate insecure communications jeopardizing national security protocols, accountability needed.

To: Rep. Beatty, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

March 27

This recent scandal involving senior administration officials discussing highly sensitive military operations over an insecure commercial messaging app is a flagrant violation of federal records laws and a dereliction of duty that jeopardized national security. Communicating details about military strikes and intelligence matters outside of secure government channels is inexcusable and demonstrates a disturbing disregard for established protocols designed to protect classified information and safeguard American interests. Equally concerning is the apparent lack of oversight and proper chain of command in authorizing military action. Critical decisions affecting American forces and foreign policy appear to have been made in an ad hoc manner by unqualified individuals, bypassing the usual deliberative process and expert input. This chaotic approach needlessly puts lives at risk and undermines America's standing on the global stage. I urge you to thoroughly investigate this matter and hold all those involved fully accountable, regardless of rank or position. Anyone who enabled or participated in these unlawful communications and reckless actions must face appropriate consequences. This incident has eroded public trust and reinforces the need for true leadership grounded in competence, ethics and a commitment to maintaining robust national security practices. A full accounting and course correction is imperative to restore integrity to these critical government functions.
