Oppose compensating January 6th rioters with taxpayer funds

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Clarke

From: A verified voter in Brooklyn, NY

March 26

Utilizing taxpayer funds to compensate the rioters involved in the January 6th attack on the Capitol would be a miscarriage of justice. Those who engaged in domestic terrorism and sought to undermine our democratic processes should face appropriate legal consequences for their actions, not be rewarded with government payouts. Allocating public money to these individuals would be an insult to the law enforcement officers injured while defending the Capitol, as well as to all American citizens who value upholding the rule of law. I urge you to oppose any efforts to establish a compensation fund benefiting the January 6th rioters and to ensure taxpayer dollars are instead directed towards more constructive purposes that strengthen our democratic institutions and advance the common good.
