Urgent impeachment inquiry needed to defend constitutional democracy

To: Sen. Rosen, Rep. Titus, Sen. Cortez Masto

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

March 31

Congress must act decisively to investigate and hold President Trump accountable for his cavalier disregard of constitutional restraints and abuse of power. His unlawful plans for the forcible removal of Palestinians, retaliation against federal law enforcement, Installation of unconfirmed private Citizens in positions of authority over government agencies, defiance of court orders, unconstitutional receipt of emoluments, deprivation of birthright citizenship, corrupt abuse of prosecutorial powers, and efforts to undermine secure elections represent a direct assault on the foundations of our democratic republic. Failing to pursue impeachment would condone and normalize such corrosive conduct, enshrining a dangerous precedent that no president is truly bound by the nation's laws or system of checks and balances. Congress's constitutional duty is clear - an impeachment inquiry is urgently required to restore the integrity of America's core principles and defend the democratic values enshrined at our nation's founding. Swift action is imperative given Trump's recent vows to accelerate these offenses against constitutional order. We cannot afford further erosion of our democratic norms in the interim before elections potentially facilitate a change in course. Impeachment stands as the sole remaining safeguard against the present and prospective subversion of the republic by an executive who refuses to govern within the confines of the law.
