Pass Same-Day Voter Registration (A925/S1193)

To: Assembly Member Moen, Assembly Member Spearman, Sen. Cruz-Perez

From: A constituent in Woodbury, NJ

March 22

As a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and your constituent, I ask that you support Same-Day Voter Registration (A925/S1193). It is time for New Jersey to join the over 20 states and District of Colombia that already allow same-day voter registration. We have fallen behind. Historically, African Americans have faced significant barriers to voting, including discriminatory registration practices. Same-Day Voter Registration can be seen as a measure that helps to address these historical inequities by making voting more accessible. For African-Americans in New Jersey, the right to vote is not merely a civic duty, but a crucial tool for addressing historical and ongoing systemic inequalities. When voter registration is made more accessible, it can lead to a greater sense of civic engagement and participation. I support same-day voter registration because in today's climate, safeguarding our democracy demands that we eliminate voter suppression and guarantee access to the ballot for all. I urge you to support A925/S1193.
