state_all I’m writing to ask you to support Senate Bill 79, which reforms zoning practices to facilitate housing development near high-capacity transit stops across California. As a Los Angeles resident, I have seen directly the impact that state- and local-funded transit improvements have enhanced my quality of life and made it easier for me to get around the city. But at the same time, the housing shortage continues as local cities refuse to up zone neighborhoods that would most benefit from these transit improvements. My tax dollars should go towards increasing the accessibility of transit, and not restricting it to just the folks who were fortunate enough to purchase a single-family home near a transit stop. SB 79 will be a critical step towards addressing Los Angeles’s housing problems. I urge you to support passage of this bill.
