State Secrets or State Shame?

To: Sen. Hughes, Gov. Abbott, Sen. Cruz, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Rep. Dean, Pres. Trump, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Moran

The American people are owed answers. Instead, we’re being given silence cloaked in secrecy. The Justice Department has now invoked the state secrets privilege—refusing to tell a federal judge, or the public, anything more about the deportation of 238 Human Beings to El Salvador earlier this month. Why the secrecy? You’ve publicly bragged about record arrests and deportations. You’ve claimed these men were gang-affiliated or threats to national security. So if you’re so proud of the operation—show us your hand. Or is there something else on that plane you don’t want us to know? Were there U.S. citizens on board—native-born Americans wrongly deported? Were political dissidents or asylum seekers swept up for optics? If not, prove it. If so, the consequences are far more serious than bureaucratic error. This was done under the Alien Enemies Act, a Civil War-era law barely used in modern times. And when questioned, President Trump flatly denied authorizing the deportations—despite his signature appearing on the very order that launched them. Now the courts are blocked from seeing the evidence. The public is left in the dark. And the White House acts like basic transparency is a national security risk. Let’s be clear: you don’t get to use the full force of government against 238 Human Beings, boast about it in the press, and then hide behind “state secrets” when asked who they were. We’re Americans —we believe in law and order. But not in secret trials, secret flights, and secret policies that no one’s allowed to question. If this administration is so sure it did the right thing, then stop hiding. Because right now, it’s starting to look like something went very, very wrong.
