The recent discussions about the abolishment of lower federal courts by the Speaker of the House are incredibly alarming. Presidents for centuries have complained about courts interfering with the execution of their agenda. The checks and balances that exist through the three branches of government are key to ensuring we continue to have majority rule and sustain minority rights. The fact a majority of the injunctions have been levied against the current administration’s policies should speak volumes about the policies. Republicans in Congress have clearly abdicated many of their responsibilities to blindly follow a single individual rather than represent their constituents. Bad policies and flagrant disregard for the rule of law are not justifications for the abolishment of lower federal courts returning to the rule of law. I beseech you to stand up for the rule of law. Whether or not you agree with a decision, those decisions represent the checks and balances that we have that keeps our country great. Deportations of criminals is a good policy, defying a court order stopping flights until all of the facts are known is not. That is especially true when innocents have been swept up. Execute your oath and protect the constitution for partisan political efforts and stop the numerous bad decisions.
