I call on you to reject Donald Trump’s out-of-touch, unAmerican, and harmful agenda and instead pass policies that allow families, small businesses, and our economy to thrive. The American people want you to focus on: • Protecting and strengthening our health care, including Medicaid, access for all Americans, and maternal and reproductive health services; • Making billionaires and mega-corporations pay their fair share in taxes; • Reducing costs for families and small businesses. • Investing in the care economy, including child care, paid family and medical leave, and care for seniors and people with disabilities; • Protecting and funding public education; • Making sure people have access to core programs when they need them that boost our economy and families like SNAP and WIC and Head Start; • Treat immigrant families and workers fairly; • Protecting and respecting federal workers. The ideas presented in the president’s remarks yesterday do not align with what most Americans voted for. So many of us in Eastern North Carolina feel betrayed, like the president has done a bait and switch. Our livelihoods are on the line, all so that CEOs bonuses can grow larger. As our elected leaders we hope you will reject the agenda of divisiveness and harm and instead turn your focus to the tools our families and businesses need to be successful.
