Very recently, rather than using your influence to defend the Constitution, including your own power as an equal branch of the government, you and mostly other so-called conservatives voted forward a budget without any conditions for limiting the ongoing illegal, unconstitutional actions of the current administration, which is now behaving as a regime, to use a more accurate term. The most alarming actions are the apparent disregard for legal documentation of law abiding recent immigrants, including the high profile case of Mahmoud Khalil, a legal permanent resident with an expectant wife who is a US Citizen.
We are watching our country be destroyed and Civil Rights being attacked, and those who may have voted for Republicans were simply lied to. No one reasonable voted for the destruction of our Rule of Law or targeting of legal residents. Further, fewer than half of US Citizens voted for the current administration. Please do not use the inaccurate word “mandate” in any response.
If you are being threatened, surely there is a way for you to stand up to whomever is threatening you.
I am certain that most of your educated constituents are furious. Please stop this hyper-partisan approach, and serve as a moderating force, supporting all of us. I miss the Republican Party that loved American values. You are humiliating us all. But you can change course.
