No Undermining the 22nd Amendment – Take a Stand

To: Rep. Kennedy, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Sandy, UT

April 3

I am writing to urge you to make a clear and unequivocal statement affirming your commitment to the two-term limit for U.S. presidents as established by the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution. Regardless of personal views on President Trump’s tenure, this constitutional safeguard exists for a critical reason: to prevent any one individual from consolidating power in a manner that undermines the democratic foundations of our nation. Recent discussions and speculation about a potential third term for Trump—whether through direct attempts to amend the Constitution or via underhanded legal maneuvers—are deeply concerning. Any effort to extend a president’s tenure beyond two terms would set a dangerous precedent, eroding one of the fundamental checks on executive power. I urge you to publicly and firmly declare that: 1. You will not support any attempt to amend or repeal the 22nd Amendment. 2. You will oppose any effort—legal, procedural, or otherwise—to circumvent the two-term limit. 3. You will reject any rhetoric or proposals that seek to normalize the idea of a third presidential term, regardless of the individual in question. This is not a partisan issue; it is a matter of upholding democratic principles. I expect my elected representatives to stand firmly in defense of our Constitution and to reassure the American public that no president—past, present, or future—will be allowed to exceed their rightful term limits. I look forward to your response and to seeing your public commitment on this matter. Thank you for your time and service to our country.
