The U.S. Department of Education plays a vital role in ensuring access to quality education for all students across the country. Dismantling the department would jeopardize critical funding and support for public schools, students from low-income communities through Title I programs, and students with disabilities through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). A strong, centralized agency is necessary to uphold national standards, enforce civil rights protections, and administer federal aid equitably. The public overwhelmingly opposes abolishing the department, according to an NPR/PBS News/Marist poll showing 63% are against this move. I urge you to protect the Department of Education and its essential functions that benefit millions of students and families. Undermining this federal agency would undermine the very foundation of public education in America.
