Subject: Why Has Congress Allowed the Executive Branch to Overreach?
Dear Representative,
As a concerned constituent, I am deeply troubled by the growing trend of congressional Republicans allowing the executive branch to overstep its constitutional authority. The recent actions of President Trump, particularly concerning his DOGE team, highlight a troubling pattern where Congress fails to uphold its constitutional role as a coequal branch of government.
The Founders designed our government with checks and balances to prevent any one branch from consolidating too much power. Yet time and again, Congress—especially Republican members who claim to defend the Constitution—has refused to challenge executive overreach. If the legislative branch will not defend its own authority, what purpose does it serve beyond merely approving presidential directives?
I expect a direct and substantive response explaining your reasoning: Why did you vote to weaken Congress’s role in governing this nation? Why have you ignored the principles of separation of powers in favor of executive rule? What steps are you taking to reclaim the legislative power that belongs to the people’s representatives?
Your oath was to the Constitution, not to any individual or political agenda. If Congress continues down this path, you will be complicit in eroding the very democracy you were elected to uphold. The American people deserve leaders who defend our institutions, not dismantle them.
I expect a clear commitment to restoring congressional oversight and upholding the separation of powers. The American people deserve nothing less.
Sincerely,
A Concerned American Citizen
