I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you as a concerned constituent and a currently serving member of the U.S. military. I am deeply troubled by recent reports regarding Pete Hegseth’s actions, specifically his use of the Signal app for classified communications. This conduct, if true, is not only a gross violation of national security protocols, but it also represents a broader disregard for the rule of law and accountability that are fundamental to the principles of our democracy.
As I reflect on these incidents, I am reminded that the Trump administration’s actions, including those of senior figures like Mr. Hegseth, continue to undermine the integrity of our democratic institutions. The continued disregard for the rule of law and the normalization of actions that mock our established norms is eroding the trust that American citizens, including members of the military, should have in our leaders.
As a currently serving military member, I am struggling to maintain confidence in my senior leaders. This incident, among many others, raises serious doubts about the direction of our national defense and the leadership decisions coming from the Department of Defense. I have always been proud to serve my country, but I am increasingly concerned that the lack of accountability and transparency in leadership is undermining our trust in the system that we are sworn to protect.
I strongly urge you to take action to address this issue. If the reports regarding Mr. Hegseth’s actions are accurate, there must be an investigation, and he should be held accountable for his potential violations of national security protocols. Additionally, I implore you to continue advocating for the restoration of integrity and transparency in our government, and for actions that will restore the trust of the American people in our democracy and rule of law.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I appreciate your service to our country and hope you will take the necessary steps to ensure the protection of our nation's values.
