Reject HB171 and SB227

As a mother who graduated from the NC public school system, continues to live and work in NC, and currently has two children in NC public schools and two adult children in the NC workforce, I strongly urge you to reject HB171 and SB227. These bills seek to create an ignorant electorate by using fear to prevent teachers from educating students on critical portions of history, as well as discouraging employers from hiring qualified diverse individuals due to fear of state retaliation. It’s a terrifying leap backward for North Carolina and not only is it embarrassing for those of us who live here, it’s also a deterrent to those who might wish to move to our state and contribute to our economy. The hate that was used to author these bills does not represent the majority of North Carolina constituents.
