Reject legislation harming LGBTQ+ students' well-being and education

To: Rep. Gutierrez, Rep. Mathis, Sen. Sundareshan, Gov. Hobbs

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

March 22

SB1694: Oppose Censorship Harming LGBTQ+ Students Educational censorship represents an alarming threat to the well-being and dignity of LGBTQ+ students. Banning discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity erases the very existence of these young people, compounding feelings of isolation and stigma. All students deserve an educational environment that affirms their identities and fosters understanding. By restricting access to LGBTQ+ content and perspectives, these bills promote ignorance over acceptance. We must protect the rights of LGBTQ+ youth to learn authentically about themselves and others. I urge you to reject any legislation that perpetuates discrimination in our schools and harms the mental health of vulnerable students.
