I am writing to urge you to address the ever-increasing numbers of law-abiding US citizens and legal residents being abducted and disappeared without legitimate grounds or due process. ICE is breaking the law, traumatizing our communities, and enlisting private security companies to broaden their reach and cloak their illegal activities. This reign of terror must be stopped immediately, and those abducted must be returned to safety, to seek due process and reparations for the trauma inflicted upon them. No human in this country should have their safety and autonomy taken away by our government, especially to be used as a political pawn to terrorize the rest of us into obedience. Are you now resigned to serving as shadow puppet legislators under an oppressive third-world dictator? If not, this collapsing of our civil and legal standing as individuals must be stopped. That higher ground which distinguishes us from those cautionary tales erodes further every day, and we are relying on you to fight for us— and yourselves— with any means necessary. Thank you.
